When we crossed Rabat and heading towards Nigret area we came across these tunnels we also ran into Charlie a family friend. He explained the pre-historic site near by which from information he received they could be linked to the Catacomb in Mdina.
Brief history: Rabat is full of pre-historic sites and it has been said that wherever you dig in Rabat you're sure to find the remains, either of a catacomb, cemetery, silo, Roman Villa Fortification etc. These remains are from pre-historic, Phoenician, Roman and Arab eras. Part of Rabat are built on part of Mdina before the latter was reduced to its present size.
